Let’s do something different here. I mean, we’ve only been chatting for awhile (a little one sided on my part) but I need motivation and you do too. I need motivation to be creative again, to express myself through the channels that feel like fuel for the soul. Sometimes I need to wax poetic and other times I need to shut up and make something or think less and put on a fun costume. I want to design fun shit again. I started my career as an artist and graphic designer. And I’m using this space to experiment again. I’ll play with the header of each newsletter to whatever extreme feels interesting to me. And I’ll make ugly shit until it turns into gold. Making “good” art takes time and practice and you are my test subjects and crash dummies, ones with opinions that are welcome and valid.
If you happen to know of people in your life who are feeling in a rut and are needing a little creative inspiration, why not forward them this email and see if it inspires them in some way to express themselves a little more loudly and to risk experimenting for creativity’s sake.
It’s 52 Lists Thursday. Week 41 of 52.
And this week, I’m pulling a prompt from 52 Lists for Bravery. A quick aside, if you haven’t figured it out yet, my 52 Lists journals are labeled as such because there are 52 weeks in a year. This week is the 41st of the year and the prompt is…

Leather jackets make me feel confident. Maybe a little too confident, like when I hacked into this shelf to make it fit in this alcove in my old tiny loft.
Jacket from Nordstrom Rack. Cords by Volcom.
When is the right time to wear a vintage plaid suit? I took it on a trip to France last year, that was a good time. But when you’re home, you gotta just DECIDE anytime is the right time, baby.
Cap from Target. Vintage suit.
Overalls are the bomb.
Overalls by Roxy. Sneakers by Vans.
And a red dress is a surprising and fun contrast against the neutrals I normally wear.
Dress by Reformation. Bandana by Madewell. Sweater by my friend Cristina Martinez for Nordstrom. Boots by Steve Madden.
She’s sporty. And it’s embarrassing how often I wear this baseball cap I got for free at a trade show like 7 years ago. But damn, do I love it.
Handmade Leather crossbody bag by NDA Leather. Joggers from Target. Sneakers by New Balance…
