The resources needed to get through Fall/Winter
How to transform routines and tasks into soul filling rituals
Oh baby, am I needing community, consistency and ritual right now. Do you prefer the word ritual or practice, habit or routine? I’m drawn to ritual because it speaks to something beyond a simple act or task. It requires mindfulness. It implies a connection to something greater, a communing with the magic that exists within everyone; soulful, universal. Routines just need to get done. Rituals value story-telling in the pursuit of manifestation, they build connectivity through the symbolic and offer romance in the banal. I have routines that are necessity, but if I view them through the lens of ritual, I just feel so much more embodied in whatever I am doing.
Here are 8 practices you can transform into rituals:
I’m utilizing and creating a variety of rituals to support my wellbeing through the darker months and I’d love to invite you along to collectively inject magic into the mundane.
Tues / Thurs Parallel Play:
I don’t just lead this virtual community space, I am fueled by the soulfulness of every person who participates. If you’re needing a container of time and space to tackle anything from self care and house cleaning to creative projects and major work goals, join me and my crew on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11am PST in December. I offer this every month!52 Lists:
I’m so excited to share that around New Years, Barnes & Noble is releasing 2 new editions of my guided list making journals that support your mental health and help relieve anxiety, stress, worry, grief, overwhelm and a lack of sense of self. I worked hard over the last year to give my two best selling journals a total makeover and I would love to hear what you think! Away with the rustic glam vibes of 2015, and hello to the trippy, mellow, minimal, gradient inspiration of 2024. I’ll give you a full preview of the new designs on launch day!
A Morning Routine Turned Ritual:
I am so resistant to sticking to a morning routine, ugh. I’ll blame it on the ADHD. But when I reframe it as a ritual, I find myself inspired to do it and proud to complete it. Have you tried reframing a morning or evening routine as a ritual?
◘ Wake Up: and write down one way I can make today 1% better than the last.◘ Eat Breakfast: a ritual that fuels my body and mind and makes me feel capable.
◘ Make Tea: a ritual that feels luxurious and warms the spirit, heart and body.
◘ Take a Shower: a ritual of imagining every anxiety/stress/worry flowing down the drain along with the physical dirt and sweat that my body has held overnight.
◘ Take my meds + brush teeth + skin care: I’d love to not have to take an anti-anxiety med, depression med and a non-stimulation ADHD med but in gloomy seasons, it’s just necessary for my chemistry. To transform this into ritual, I thank science and nature for communing with the out of balance chemistry in me to bring me back into harmony with the internal and external. Brushing my teeth is ritual right now in a big way being that I am 37 with braces and I want my time and financial investment of braces to pay off with the health of my mouth. And my skin care ritual is simple but very specific. I need mega moisture and skin regeneration to quiet life long acne and to feel and see an external glow that makes me feel radiant. It’s Paula’s Choice BHA + Replenishing Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid and Peptides FOREVER. I’ve tried every acne treatment on sensitive dry/oily skin. THIS IS IT.
◘ Pull a Tarot Card + Journal: lets explore this more deeply! I’ll share my pull of today, research, resources and personal insight…
